GEAR RECCOMENDATIONS

All players will need the following items to participate:

1. GIRLS Lacrosse Stick

2.  Mouthguard

3. Goggles or GIRLS Helmet

4. Cleats

GIRLS LACROSSE STICK

MOUTHGUARD

Boys and girls lacrosse sticks ARE NOT the same. We recommend getting a stick that the player can grow into, rather than one they will grow out of too quickly. But beginner sticks do have a place, if you’re not sure how committed you will be.

Good: Crux 100 or Exult 200 - good beginner sticks at a low price point. Easy to use right away, but players may grow out of them quickly depending on how into the sport they get.

Better: Crux 400 – good stick that they can grow into and play on for years. Breaks in easily. Mid-price point. This is what Coach BK plays with.

Best: Gait Apex or Crux Pro – more advanced sticks that they can use their entire career. Almost zero break-in time, but can take some getting used to if a beginner or coming from a different stick. High price point. Several of our long-time and college-recruited players use these, as well as most of the coaches. The Gait stick is our #1 recommendation.

Worst: Brine Warp - Do not buy this stick. It is designed in such a way that if one point in the mesh breaks, the whole stick needs to be replaced.

Cannot be clear. No strap. Must fit fully inside your mouth.

Our suggestion SISU Aero NextGen

  • Slim fit, easy to re-mold, easy to talk while wearing

  • Similar: Shock Doctor ultra-slim, Battle Ultra-slim

GOGGLES or GIRLS HELMET

These are specific to women’s lacrosse. Highly recommend going to Dick’s sporting goods or another store where players can try on a few different brands to see what works for them. Girls and boys helmets ARE NOT the same. Bike helmets and other sport helmets are not allowed.

Goggles: STX 4SightFocus or Rookie S (for youth players)

Helmet: Cascade LX

CLEATS

Any kind of cleat is fine as long as the spikes are rubber or plastic, not metal. Soccer cleats are easier to find but only come in lower profile styles. Lacrosse-specific cleats are also available and offer more ankle support if that’s something you want.  It is a personal preference.

Our suggestion:

Avoid: track shoes, golf shoes, baseball/softball cleats with metal spikes.
